President of Berger Automobile Dealers Association; Chief Metche Nnadiekwe has fingered the high influx of people into automobile business as one of the major challenges bedeviling in the sector.
Nnadiekwe said this recently in a chat with Shipping Position Daily in Lagos.
According to him, the situation has drastically reduced the number of sales at African biggest automobile market.
“To be very honest with you, the business has been very low this year. If we should measure it by percentage, I don’t even know what to tell you. People are really suffering in this country; many people have joined car business because there is no work to do. If anybody manages to bring in car into the country, his or her brother in Nigeria automatically becomes a car dealer and it is not healthy for our business, because some of them do not understand the business”, he lamented.
Speaking on the issue of smuggling, he applauded the Nigeria Customs Service, saying that the menace has dropped to its barest minimum.
