A vehicle clearing agent; Ismail Adegboro was last week arraigned before an Apapa magistrate’s court for failing to deliver four vehicles belonging to late Patrician Egbuchienu and converting the vehicles to his own personal use.
The Prosecutor; Sergeant Alex Edegbemi, told the court that the defendant collected the sum of N2, 270,000 from one Okoye Richard for clearing and delivering four vehicles belonging to the deceased, but converted the sum to his personal use without the consent of the owner.
He added that the defendant committed the offences on the 7th of November 2018 at Tin Can Island, Apapa Lagos.
He said that the offences are punishable under sections 287(9b) and 314(b) of the criminal laws of Lagos state 2015.
The defendant, Ismail, who is facing a two count charge on converting of money to personal use and false pretence, denied committing the offences brought against him.
The Magistrate, Mr. O. Olubi granted the defendant bail in the sum N50, 000 with two responsible sureties.
According to him, the sureties who must provide evidence of tax payment to Lagos state government must also provide address which will be verified by the court.
The case was adjourned till 13th June 2019.
