National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) is collaborating with the Nigerian Institution of Metallurgical, Mining and Materials Engineers (NIMMME) to exploit locally available raw materials that could be used to make vehicle components and parts.
This is the outcome of an interaction at the NADDC Headquarters in Abuja between top management of the Council and a six-member delegation of the Metallurgical Engineers Institute led by Prof. Aje Tokan.
Director General of NADDC, Mr. Jelani Aliyu, said Nigeria needed enormous materials to make modern type of vehicles that are functional and efficient for the country.
“We are really very excited because, I can see huge potentials in what we can do together. We will need to discuss further on how best we can collaborate towards the development of the Nigeria automotive sector”, he added.
Leader of the delegation, Professor Tokan made a presentation on behalf of the National Chairman of the institution, Prof. D.O.N. Obikwelu, in which NADDC was intimated with the activities of the institution and preparations towards its forthcoming annual conference with the theme, “Minerals, Metals and Materials in Manufacturing: Imperatives for Technological Advancement and Economic Growth.”
Mr. Jelani Aliyu was invited as one of the lead paper presenters at the conference; for which NIMMME also solicited for the Council’s support and participation.
NIMMME is made up of a group of professionals in Engineering which encompasses Mining, Mineral Resources as well as Metals and Materials in the advancement and use of Engineering for Nigeria’s technological and Economic Development.
