Investigations have revealed that due to the general elections, trucks seem to have vacated Berger automobile market which has been their parking slot for some months now.
When Shipping Position Daily visited the Africa’s biggest automobile market last week, the market which is along Apapa Oshodi expressway was a bit free unlike what was obtained earlier as some trucks have deserted the place.
When our correspondent engaged one of the dealers at the popular market who gave his name as Mr. Jude Obidiegwu, he said that the truckers, which according to him, are predominantly Northerners have gone back to perform their civil responsibility in the coming elections.
He said that it is very unfortunate that they will deliberately flood the market arena with their trucks when there are places these trucks can be parked thereby disturbing their market.
“They have gone to vote, that is why you can see that the whole of this place is a bit free compared to what it is used to be in the past where the whole place is blocked with trucks. It is so unfortunate that these truckers deliberately block our market premises thereby affecting our business. From what they have done you will see that it has been a deliberate act, if they can take some of these trucks out now, why have they not done it since’, he lamented.
