Five dealers who specialise in adulterating petroleum product meant for filling stations in Ebonyi state have been nabbed by men of Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps (NSCDC) in the state. They were allegedly caught with the dangerous products and are already being detained.
Ebonyi state commandant of NCDSC, Philip Ayuba who paraded a truck before newsmen in Abakaliki last week disclosed that the intercepted truck which was carrying about 15, 665 litres of a fake petroleum product and added that it belonged to a dealer in Abakaliki. He disclosed that his men acted on a tip-off and blocked the tanker in Abakaliki and later conducted tests to confirm whether or not the product was adulterated.

According to him, both the supervisor of the filling station and the driver of the company were arrested and handed over to the EFCC for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He urged the public to always volunteer information that could aid them in apprehending such enemies of the public.
Giving further insight, the NSCDC boss disclosed that four of culprits are currently being prosecuted at four different courts in the state, others had been handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) as their offences were said to be that of economic sabotage.
