With the latest arrangement, the company has segmented the terminal for vehicles import, whereby new and fairly- used vehicles are separated to ease clearing from the terminal.
And in response to the development, importers and freight forwarders have expressed satisfaction about the easy movement of persons and vehicles from the terminal.
Logistics Manager, First Steve Venture Limited, Mr. Daniel Akioye told Shipping Position Daily last week that the clearing of vehicles from the terminal has been easy since the introduction of the new gate.
He said that with the development in place, vehicles are easily traceable by the importers and their agents to know the state of the vehicles, adding that such initiative was not thought about until the recent development.
Akioye also added that the terminal is more organized, pointing out the fact that “as soon as the agent gain entrance into the terminal to clear or check the state of the vehicle he or she knows the particular park to go for the consignment because where you can find the fairly used cars is different from where to get the brand new imported vehicles’’.
According to him, security officials at the new gate have been friendly to everybody that has businesses in the terminal even as the reflective jacket is compulsory to everybody.
However Chief John Okwukwe an importer also added that with the new customs block by the gate, processing of document is much easier compared to what was obtainable before.
He reiterated that with the new gate, vehicular traffic at the terminal will drastically reduce.
