When asked to explain the recent spike in sales, Walid al-Maala, KIA's marketing director at the Sfax dealership, pointed to the recent expansion in the number of Kia outlets nationwide. "In 2010, there only used to be one agency. Now, there are five with two others in Gabès and Ben Arous in the process of construction," said al-Maala.
At 26,480 dinars, Kia offers the lowest price in Tunisia's automobile market, asserted Imène Mlayh, a KIA representative in the Sousse dealership. "More sophisticated designs and a strong price-performance ratio are factors," added Mlayh – explaining Kia's recent success. "People are buying in extraordinary numbers. Some are even paying cash down."
