Chairman of the Tin Can Island Port chapter of the International Freight Forwarders Association (IFFA); Mr Ojo Akintoye has announced his resignation from the position and exit from the group.
Akintoye who was a contestant for chairmanship position of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agent (ANLCA) Tin Can Chapter took the IFFA job in August 2017 after he lost to incumbent chairman; Prince Segun Oduntan.
Meanwhile, sources hinted Shipping Position Daily that Akintoye dumped the IFFA job in order to prepare for the Tin Can chapter election of ANLCA billed to come up again sometimes in 2019.
Speaking with our correspondent last week however, he explained that he decided to relinquish his position because he wanted to devote his full time to the Oodua Maritime Forum. Akintoye is also the Vice President of the Forum, which is a pressure group within ANLCA.
He said, "I have stepped down as the IFFA chairman at Tin Can, the acting chairman now is Tope Fatimehin, he was the former Secretary of the chapter, he is now at the helms of affairs"
"Because I am the vice president of Oodua Maritime Forum and for other reasons best known to me with my time constraints, I want to exit from the position for now"
"The president and others were not happy with me because I was leaving them, it was a very difficult decision for me to take because they all love me, appreciate me and give me all the necessary support. For the sake of my immediate constituency and my position as Oodua Maritime Vice President, there is a lot on my hands and I feel that I won’t be able to give my time like before", he said.
He did the final handing over on last week Thursday in Lagos.
