President Mohammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Senator Oloruninnbe Mamora as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
The appointment which takes immediate effect is strategic, especially against the background of the running battle over the control of the Lagos waterways and coastlines between NIWA and the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA).
Mamora is also expected to drive the ongoing inland water ways reforms aimed at attracting private sector investors and deepening water transportation patronage as a critical mode of transportation in the multi – modal transport system.
NIWA is a parastatal under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, headed by Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi as the Minister.
Mamora will succeeds Mr. Boss Gida Mustapha, who was elevated to the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) after holding forth briefly as the substantive Managing Director of NIWA.
But Mamora will be taking over from the Acting Managing Director, Barr. Danladi Ibrahim.
