The National Association of Air Freight Forwarders and Consolidators (NAFFAC) has promised to support the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.
President of NAFFAC; Prince Yinka Bakare made the promise yesterday when he led the newly-elected national and chapter executives of the association on a courtesy visit to the Customs Area Controller in charge of command; Comptroller Jayne Shoboiki.
He also said that the association has the tradition of working together with previous controllers who have served in the command, even as he reiterated the association’s desire to extend the same hands of friendship to the new Controller.
Bakare, maintained that the controller is someone who has a listening ear, adding that this will be a big advantage to the command.
The NAFFAC boss told our correspondent after the meeting that: "The essence of the courtesy visit is to introduce the new executives to the command and to familiarise with both the national and chapter executives. We are also aware that she is new in the command. So it is just nice that we pay the courtesy visit, we are not here to do any other thing than to introduce ourselves”
“We are also here to appreciate and welcome her as well, because people will be coming with ideas on how to move the command forward. I think we are ready to work with her to achieve a better result and make a good Nigeria for everybody”, he assured.
He quoted the Controller as saying that "as long as we are doing what is right the association has no problem; the most important thing is that she is achieving her targets”.
“We gave her our words that we have been cooperating even with the past CACs before her. She should be assured of our corporation. Within the customs and the freight forwarders there are always issues to trash out. But so far so good, I think she has been giving a listening ear and that is very important as far as she can listen".
Speaking on the scheduled meeting between members of governing council of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) and the Minister of Transportation; Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, the NAFFAC President called for all hands to be on deck to enable the council achieve its set goals.
He acknowledged that the meeting which is scheduled for next week is the opportunity members of the governing council have been waiting for to dialogue with the minister.
"Don't let us guess or preempt what is going to happen at the meeting between the ministers and the elected governing council members of CRFFN, until we get there. For the past three months we have been waiting and he has called for a meeting, so let us wait and hear what he has to say".
