• NAGAFF Garners Hundreds Of Millions Ahead Of Election
The two main associations expected to slug it out at the coming elections into the governing council of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) appear to be leaving no stone unturned.
While the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has dragged the CRFFN to Lagos, to begin mass registration of its members ahead of the June 29, 2018 elections, its ‘rival’ the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) says it’s raising Hundreds of Millions of Naira to prosecute the elections.
Shipping Position Daily confirmed that the CRFFN has begun mass registration of members of ANLCA at its secretariat in Festac Town, Lagos. Our correspondent who witnessed the commencement of the data capturing for some National Executive Committee (NECOM) members of the association reported that there was a large turnout of ANLCA members who were eager to be registered.
An official of the CRFFN who refused to give his name told our correspondent there were certain fees attached to the exercise. According to him, application for new members of ANLCA to be captured on the CRFFN register is N5,000, while registration fee for both new and existing members is N7,000. He also said that the Council is collecting subscription fee of N10,000 for only 2008.
"The application fee is N5000, registration is N7000 and annual subscription for 2018 is N10,000. The data capturing started today (Monday) and it is going to extend to all chapters of ANLCA from tomorrow"
"Existing members are not going to pay for application fee, but they would pay for registration and annual subscription", he said.
Also speaking with our correspondent, the National Publicity Secretary of ANLCA, Mr. Joe Sani said that the registration and data capturing is taking place simultaneously at the Eastern and Western Zones of the association.
He said that the headquarters is sending out a message to all its chapters to mobilise all ANLCA members for the CRFFN exercise.
"The governing council elections of the CRFFN is coming up on the 29th of June, you are also aware that we have been in court, thirdly, you are also aware that we have not been participating actively in CRFFN affairs"
"When we got wind about the conditions that CRFFN laid down, we had to call a meeting of our members and inform them of our situation, after this our national president proposed to apply political solution to it especially these onerous conditions that has been placed on associations"
"What we saw was that most of these conditions were fixed to deprive ANLCA members from participating in that elections.
The President got the mandate of the members from the west and the east and he was able to get us a good condition.
After all this have been done, we thought that we needed to register our members and here we are today, trying to get our members registered"
On its part, the Founder of NAGAFF; Dr Boniface Aniebonam on a Whatsapp platform disclosed that some members of the association are already donating funds to aid the success of the association in the coming elections.
He confirmed that, five members of NAGAFF have already donated N20Millon each to aid the election campaign and logistics.
According to Aniebonam, “the following young freight to forwarders of NAGAFF led by Ndubisi and the other four which include but not limited to Ezisi, Timothy, Princes Ezeh and Ekemezie today agreed to bankroll further registration of members of NAGAFF and logistics thereto in the forth coming election into governing council of CRFFN”.
“Accordingly, all NAGAFF members who are yet to make second payment and 2018 annual subscription are advised to approach their various chapters to seek for assistance of the NAGAFF hqtrs for the payment of their outstanding fees to CRFFN”
“This shall put you in a stead to be financially updated for the purpose of the forthcoming election”, he added.
He added that other members of the association, including the association’s president; Mr Increase Uche have been donating various sums for the election.
According to him, “it is on record that as today the number of NAGAFF members who are financially updated with CRFFN is heading to 3,000 individual practitioners”, even as he added that, “the corporate freight forwarders is standing at two hundred and fifty numbers”.
“Our target is to get 8,000 individual practitioners and corporate members who are financially updated before the 25th of June 2018 before the election date. Dr Aniebonam founder NAGAFF is seating at the driver’s seat for CRFFN election 2018”, he declared.
