For failing to supply 100 bags of stock fish worth, N3.8million, a 37 year old clearing agent, Cyril Cyracus, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa magistrates court.
The defendant, Cyracus is facing a two count charge bordering on false pretence and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometimes in September 2017 at about 9:30pm at Apapa in Apapa magisterial district.
The charge sheet reda in part: "That you, Cyril Cyracus sometimes in September 2017 at about 9:30pm at Apapa in Apapa magisterial district, did obtain from one Doris Okafor, the sum of N3.8million on the pretence to supply her 100 bags of stock fish, knowing same to be false"
"The defendant stole the sum of N3.8 million property of one Doris Okafor"
Sergeant Tedunjaye said the offences are punishable under sections, 314 and 284 of the criminal laws of Lagos state 2015.
The defendant denied committing the offences.
The Magistrate, Mr. B.M A more granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties.
He added that one of the sureties who must own a landed property in the state, will also furnish the court with two years evidence of tax payment to Lagos state government.
The case was adjourned till 25th of February 2019 for mention.
