A clearing agent; Edward Ejoromi, who stole six deep freezers, eight Bicycles and 10 new Microwave ovens, 11 electronic irons, 15 DVD machines and one sewing machine at Tin Can Island port, Lagos was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates court.
The defendant, who is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, pleaded not guilty to the offences that the police brought against him.
In his submission, the Prosecutor; Sergeant Balogun Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on the 19th of April 2019, at about 2 pm at Tin Can Island, Apapa.
He said that the stolen properties belong to an importer; Andrew Onomronbos.
Balogun added that the offences are punishable under sections 289(1) and 419 of the criminal laws of Lagos state 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs. O.S Okubule granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She also added that the sureties, who must be a relative to the defendant must provide evidence of two years tax payment to Lagos state government.
The case was adjourned to July 31, 2019.
