ANLCA Airport Chapter Urges NECOM To Expedite Action On Suspended Election    

 Members of the Murtala Mohammed Airport Chapter of the Association of the Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents, (ANLCA) have urged the National Executive Committee (NECOM) of the association to expedite action that would aid election of executives at the chapter.

Recall that a sole administrator was appointed by the National President to run the affairs of the association in the chapter last year, following the expiration of the term of the past administration.

However, In a solidarity visit to the National President recently, at the National Secretariat in Lagos, the group which expressed support for the President amidst the crisis rocking the association urged the NECOM members to take action by conducting an election in the chapter, thereby bringing to an end the stay of the sole administrator. 

Spokesman of the group;  Mr. Ben Nwokocha said: “We are aware of the circumstances and challenges faced by your government but your members at the Airport Command are here today to fully identify with you and encourage you and your executives to remain steadfast and focused.

“In view of our pending election, we express our dissatisfaction with undue delays being experienced. We thereby implore you and your National Executives committee Members to use your good office to expedite action that would bring the election of MMA command to a conclusion in the nearest possible time.

“Once again we pledge our unalloyed support for your government and would be happy if a date is fixed before the end of this month for the conclusion of our election. We wish you best of luck and fruitful governance”. 

The president, Tony Iju Nwabunike while reacting to the visit commended the command for doing the right thing while assuring them that the election will be conducted as soon as the committee set up to look into the issue submit their report.

According to him “you are doing the right thing, we are in a democratic setting, the uniqueness of our association is that we want to be democratic and that is why you people are here and we appreciate that.

“And I want to assure you that the election will be conducted very soon, I know some of you must have ran out of patience the sole administrator that is meant to last 90 days has taken more than a year now but I can assure you that the election will be conducted very soon as soon as the committee finishes their report.”
