The lingering crisis that has rocked the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) appeared to have festered yesterday as against the believe that peace has returned to the association as the supposedly factional President.
Chief Henry Njoku and two other members of the board; Aare Sanni Shittu, and Chief Peter Obih were absent at the meeting to broker peace and also elect new leaders of the board of trustees of the association.
Even as the supposedly newly elected Chairman, Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha informed that Henry Njoku had written a letter to the president of the association, Mr Tony Nwabunike not to allow the meeting of the board or the election to hold.
You will recall that Taiwo Mustapha and four other members of the board; Chief Dennis Okafor, Taiye Oyeniyi, Dayo Azeez and Chief Earnest Elochukwu have been at logger heads with the factional board chairman: Chief Henry Njoku and two other members Peter Obih and Aare Sanni Shittu over who is the chairman of the board of trustees after an election that was conducted in 2014 (Six years ago) went bizarre.
Speaking yesterday to Journalists, the supposedly newly elected board chair: Taiwo Mustapha informed that having met the necessary criteria, there was need to conduct the new election, while informing that since 2001 the association had not paid a penny as annual dues to the corporate affairs, he said the five of them had to paid the backlogs from their pockets.
According to him “I believe some of you are aware of the court judgment that was given to one of the board members Peter Obi, when he sued me Taiwo Mustapha, that I couldn’t have been the board chairman, now the judgment came up and the judgment was against us that I should stop parading myself as the chairman, so it was base on the fact that four of us who are board members including Chief Ernest Elochukwu and Mr. Dayo Azeez were not registered in the corporate affairs commission.
“Base on that the judge simply looked at it that you cannot build anything on nothing, and which we quite agreed with him when the judgment came out.
“But we are looking at it from the political angle that we have been elected together as board members on the 14th of February 2014, and all of us have equal right, so it was on the basis of that we decided to do the election we had on the 13th of April 2018, that was when we were elected as the executive of the board, however, with that judgment we felt that it was an indictment for us not to have make move all this while
