The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Area Command, has collected N 35, 929, 260, 672.12 in January 2020 surpassing N 32,584,492,857.35 collected by the command in January previous year.
The figure shows that the command surpassed the revenue of the same month in the previous year with, N 3,344, 767,814.77.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) in charge of the Command, Nkeiru Nwala, disclosed this on Wednesday in a chat with Shipping Position Daily in Apapa.
She said that the month has been quite eventful especially with the onerous efforts of the Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU) Valuation Unit, among others.
Nwala added that the officers of the command played significant role in the Command’s recorded success.
“In our quest to deliver efficient service delivery to our esteemed stakeholders and in line with the Comptroller-General of Customs’ mandate, the Command under my leadership came up with a deliberate and well coordinated strategy with a view to maximizing their productivity"
"The results we are seeing today is in addition to other mechanisms like 24 hours dispute resolution, maintaining an open and accessible door policy to address complains, constant engagement with the stakeholders, as well as support by the Customs management and other sister agencies operating within the port”.
The command image maker however appealed to importers to always comply with import guidelines in order to eradicate illicit drugs flooding the country.
“I wish to make a special appeal to importers respect and comply with the country’s guidelines on importation of these products to rid the nation of prohibited drugs” she noted.
