The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in (CRFFN) may be engulfed in fresh crisis over alleged purchase of Toyota Hilux Vehicles for some members of its governing council.
Investigations by Shipping Position Daily revealed that each of the Hilux is worth about N14 million.
However, there are arguments as to how many members of the governing council were given. Some said, only chairmen of committees were given, while some told our correspondent that all members were given.
One of the board members (names withheld) however confirmed to our correspondent that all chairmen of various committees on the board as well as many others have already received their own vehicles, while the rest is yet to be delivered.
However, there were arguments as to how and when the purchases were funded. While, some sources within the Council told our correspondent that the vehicles were purchased on credit, with the hope of repaying back the debts when the Council realizes money.
Yet another source affirmed that the vehicles had been purchased since 2015, during the tenure of the former Registrar of the Council; Sir Mike Jukwe.
The source vouched that the new governing council and the new Registrar did not purchase any vehicle. He attributed the rumour to those he called ‘enemies of the council’.
The source, who is also a member of the governing council, confirmed receipt of one Hilux, but explained that the vehicles were only given to chairmen of some committees.
