The founder of the National Association of Governmental Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF)Dr Boniface Aniebonam has warned freight forwarder operating at the nation's maritime domain to stay away from the port if they don't have any business in the port.
Aniebonam who said this in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos reiterated that the instructions has become necessary for the safety and protection of the practitioners.
Aniebonam who raisedthe alarm that some of the banks have stopped taking responsibilities to deal with issues relating to FORM M, however advised practitioners to get in touch with the Executive Council of NAGAFF in case there are issues.
He however said that information has been passed to the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC); Mr Hassan Bello and the Registrar of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN); Mr Samuel Nwakohu to investigate the issue.
"We have just been told that some of the banks are not taking responsibility to deal with issues relating to FORM M registration. This information has been passed on to the Executive Secretary of NSC and Registrar of CRFFN to investigate and a follow up thereto"
Aniebonam nevertheless lauded the Executive Secretary of NSC, for providing coaster buses for easy transportation of freight forwarders in the ports.
"We also have it on good authority from the ES of NSC that coaster buses are being deployed at strategic locations in Lagos to help young Freight Forwarders for easy of transportation to the ports"
He urged other agencies to borrow a leaf from what the NSC has done to aid movement of freight forwarders in the ports.
"We appreciate the Nigeria Shippers’ Council in this regard. We do hope that NPA and CRFFN management should equally add value to enhance transportation related matters which indeed shall make this operation seamless while observing distancing instructions"
