The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has opened its doors for all freight forwarders to come up and register with the Council for the Regulations of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) in order to partake in the forthcoming elections into the governing council.
The association has equally opened up the opportunity to all stakeholders participating in the total logistics chain and who intends to partake in the CRFFN elections.
In a press statement issued yesterday and signed by NAGAFF Head of Special Duties, Mr. Emmanuel Agubanze, the association is requesting freight forwarders to pay a total sum of N13,490 to become a full-fledged freight forwarder and registered by CRFFN.
The association assured that the ongoing exercise is being carried out in conjunction with the CRFFN and that some staff of the CRFFN has been seconded to NAGAFF headquarters in Apapa to carry out the registration processes.
According to the statement, "The Continuous Registration Exercise is to enable those who though have commenced the registration process of making only the first payment of Five Thousand, Four hundred Naira ( #5400) to take advantage of the present window provided by NAGAFF in conjunction with the CRFFN to make the second payment of Eight Thousand, and ninety Naira ( #8090 ) to become full-fledged members of the CRFFN to be able to enjoy the full benefits of being a bona fide member of CRFFN, which include right to vote and be voted for, and every other thing taken into consideration"
"To simplify the exercise, the CRFFN has deployed its full complement of staff to the NAGAFF Headquarters to offer all necessary assistance in making the payments and other requirements necessary for registration seamless towards becoming full member of CRFFN"
"Consequently, all NAGAFF members as well as other players in the total logistics chain management industry wishing to register as members of the CRFFN should visit NAGAFF Headquarters" it said
The association stated further that it is already in talks with the authorities at the Federal Ministry of Transportation and the CRFFN regarding the issue of back-dated annual subscription in such a way as to get a fair deal for both contestants and voters.
Shipping Position Daily had reported exclusively that the CRFFN had slammed N200,000 fine on all contestants in the forthcoming elections as payment of arrears on membership subscription.
"NAGAFF is therefore urging its members to see the forthcoming CRFFN elections as very important to the Association and every member of NAGAFF is expected to key into it, and expect further directives"
