The Tin Can 2 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has said that it collected a whooping N1,534,898,047 from the Lekki, Lagos Free Trade Zones as revenue for February 2019.
Disclosing this to Shipping Position Daily, Public Relations Officer of the Command located at Lillypond Terminals, Ijora Lagos, Farouk Abubakar said the revenue was above the monthly target of N1.4billion given to the command.
Farouk said the February revenue dropped as against what was generated in January; the command stated that it surpassed the monthly target of 1.4billion.
He told our correspondent that management had set aside N1,432,773,836.56 as monthly revenue target for the year adding that the command has surpassed the last two months collection.
According to him, the command collected N3,038,555,348.00 ,with a surplus of about 1,605,781,511.44.
Despite the drop in revenue collection for February, the spokesman noted that it recorded a surplus of N102,124,210.44 , against the monthly target for the command.
Asked about the progress recorded in its revenue drive for the command, Abubakar maintained 90% of revenue collected in the month last two months was generated from the Lekki and Lagos Free Trade Zone.
He also lamented that the Ijora based command recorded less than 10 percent revenue collection.
He attributed the slight drop of revenue collection in February to the nationwide presidential and National Assembly elections saying, business activities was slow.
