There seems to be ray of hope for job seekers who have applied for recruitment into the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the exercise started more than a year ago.
Recall that the NCS had attributed the delay in concluding the recruitment into the Service to the coronavirus pandemic.
The service claimed that the recruitment that started in April 2019 could not be completed owing to the COVID 19 pandemic which shut down most activities in the nation.
However, with the gradual easing of the lockdown and gradual reopening of schools in the country, sources said the service may begin the process for recruitment before the year runs out.
According to a source in the Nigeria Customs Service, who pleaded anonymity pleaded he was not authourised to speak, “the service is considering to begin the process of the recruitment by November and end everything before December, so I can assure you that the long awaited recruitment exercise will be completed this year”, he assured.
In a telephone chat with our correspondent the Public Relations Officer of the service, Deputy Controller Joseph Attah confirms that with the gradual easing of the lockdown, the service may consider the process of the recruitment. He however said no date has been fixed as yet, but he promised to inform our correspondent as soon as the service fixes a date for the resumption of the exercise.
He said: “Yes, I agree with you, things are changing gradually, aptitude test has been written, everything is in process and it has to do with computation, once they are ready you will be informed.
“We appreciate all those who are asking to know about the recruitment exercise. Yes, this one is longer than usual due to situations beyond our control.
“Remember after the aptitude test, which was conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, the Service was compiling and getting set to invite the successful candidates for interview and other physical checks when Coronavirus struck.
“With gradual relaxation setting in now, NCS will release the invitation at the appropriate time”.
