The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ibrahim
Ali (Rtd) has approved a two-day sensitization workshop on the ease of doing business reforms for officers and stakeholders.
The two-day event is expected to begin on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th, 2017 at the Customs Training School, Ikeja, Lagos.
Recall that the customs boss had given assurances during his working visit to the headquarters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) and the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Monday March 27, 2017 where he assured freight forwarders that the Service is irrevocably committed to ensuring the training of officers and stakeholders in its efforts to reposition the service for optimal revenue generation while ensuring the facilitation of legitimate trade.
The workshop is therefore intended to effectively get operatives and relevant stakeholders on the same page about the new policies aimed at making Nigeria an investment friendly destination.
The first day of the programme would be attended by NCS officers only while other stakeholders will participate in the second day.
Already, the NAGAFF has directed its members to ensure full participation in the sensitization programme.
In a statement released yesterday by the Public Relations Officer of NAGAFF, Mr. Stanley Ezenga, the association stated that "We consider, this as a veritable opportunity for Freight Forwarders to update their knowledge in cargo clearance"
"All NAGAFF members are hereby directed to be in attendance at the event and to ensure wide circulation of the notice to every NAGAFF member", he said.
