The taskforce of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and the compliance task team of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) say the teams have started recording successes in the fight against revenue leakages and corruption among the government agencies at the nation’s seaports.
Recall that the two sister associations set up task forces in order to facilitate trade at Nigerian seaports and check port corruption due to break down of law and order in the port system.
The two associations had also set up the taskforces against the will of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) which had issued a letter to the two associations to stop the inauguration of the taskforce.
Speaking to Shipping Position Daily the Chairman Western Zone of ANLCA, Sir John Oforbike informed that, in less than three weeks the ANLCA task force is already recording success, he said that the taskforce has been able to create awareness and put shipping companies and terminal operators on their toes, adding that members of the association now have confidence in the leadership of the association due to the backing of the taskforce that sees to their plight at the port.
Oforbike said the task force has been able to address and resolve some of the challenges of the customs agents in just less than three weeks of take.
Speaking also to our correspondent, the head of the ANLCA Task team western zone, Alhaji Amusa Oba informed our correspondent that the taskforce has been able to address some difficulties and challenges being faced by its members, noting that the taskforce has been able to resolve issues between shipping companies and licensed customs agents.
