The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has been commended for embracing Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in the management of the nation’s seaports in line with best practices, particularly as it concerns developmental projects.
The commendation was given on Wednesday when the top executives of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) visited the NPA Management at the Corporate Headquarters of the Organization at Marina, Lagos. The team was led by ICPC’s Director of Civil Service Transformation Department; Mr Gabriel Aduda .
Receiving the delegation, Managing Director of the NPA; Hadiza Bala Usman expressed the NPA’s preparedness to further collaborate with Government agencies and global players with the view to generating more revenue for the Country.
Similarly, she enlisted the support of the Commission in her quest for a regime of greater infrastructural sufficiency and customer satisfactory operations in the sector and in relation to activities in the sub-region.
The NPA boss also solicited the assistance of the ICRC in order to improve on its mandate, even as she noted that budgetary provision is a critical area that requires prioritization.
Earlier, leader of the ICRC delegation; Gabriel Aduda affirmed that the team was a Federal Government entity set up to effectively assist the Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) as well as Ministry Departments and Agencies (MDAs) toreduce the cost of corporate governance and administration, most especially in the execution of projects as captured in 2017 budget.
He added that the ICRC is also saddled with the responsibility of coming up with strategies that will shore-up government revenue.
He stated that Government was appreciative of the exploits of the NPA Management through the windows of Public Private Partnerships concerning the laid out operational business plans for Ikorodu Lighter Terminal, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal and the Single Window initiatives amongst other projects.
