The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has sacked one of its executive at the Tin Can Port Chapter; Mr Godson Chukwu over allegations of corruption and anti-association activities.
Speaking with Shipping Position Daily on the development, Vice Chairman of the chapter, Mustapha Aboki alleged that Mr. Godson who was the Public Relations Officer of the chapter was collecting money from stakeholders under false pretence with assurances of clearing their cargoes.
He noted that Godson has been suspended indefinitely.
Our correspondent also obtained a letter written to relevant stakeholders and Governmrnt agencies, asking them to be wary of the member and not to transact business with him as a NAGAFF executive.
Speaking, the NAGAFF Vice Chair, Aboki listed some of the offences of the sacked executive to include; sabotage, engaging in 'kelebe' work, collecting money under false pretence and perjury.
"We have suspended him indefinitely, though there is a room for him to appeal, he could go to the headquaters to seek appeal if he feels unjustly treated. But if the headquaters look at the matter and it is beyond suspension, definitely he would be expelled"
"A petition was written against him by a fellow executive who is chairman of customs-agents relations committee, Mr. Martins Duru for; doing 'kelebe' work, sabotage, obtaining money under false pretence, and perjury"
"From his response we gathered that he committed the offence"
"He collected money under the pretence of clearing cargoes but he disappears. Severally, he has been accused of the same offence. This is not what NAGAFF stands for and we would never condone such act"
The letter of disclaimer written by the association was addressed to all terminal operators, shipping companies, stevedoring companies, Nigerian Ports Authority and the Nigeria Customs Service at Tin Can port.
