The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has projected that the nation’s maritime industry will experience a deluge of investments estimated to be in the neighbourhood of $30Billion or about (N10.8Trillion) this year.
Speaking on the sidelines of the agency’s award night held in Lagos last weekend, Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Peterside however said that this can only be achieved if there is cooperation among stakeholders.
The DG equally admonished that now is the time for Nigerian maritime industry players to position themselves to take advantage of the projected investment.
Peterside also assured that the agency will work more with its various stakeholders to achieve more and make better progress in 2019.
Apparently optimistic about the viability of the projection, he said: “We believe that 2019 is great year, there’s been a forecast that there is going to be about $30billion to spend in the Nigerian maritime industry and it is Nigerian investors that would hope to take advantage of this to grow wealth, create opportunities for our people”
Full of praises for stakeholders in the Nigerian maritime industry and justifying the awards that were given to some of them, he added that: “The only we can appreciate them is to publicly acknowledge them like this and encourage them to do more and assure them that we are standing with them to achieve more goals”.
“This is an opportunity to encourage them to do more, to continue to weather the storm and achieve more result”, he added.
