The Police have arraigned two hoteliers, Jonah Origa 29 and Stanley Udeme 39 for stealing in Apapa.
The Prosecutor, Sargent Alex told the court that the defendants stole the sum of N2, 553, 850 belonging to Villa Park Hotel, Amuwo Odofin, in Apapa magisterial district.
He also said that the defendant committed the offences between the 4th day of September 2018 till 18th of March 2019 at about 8pm at Amuwo Odofin, Lagos state.
"You at Jonah Origa stole the sum of N1, 223. 450 belonging to Villa Park Hotel"
"You, Stanley Udeme stole the sum of N1, 330. 400 belonging to Villa Park Hotel"
He also said that the defendant on the same date altered a genuine bar sales book of the hotel.
Alex added that the offences are punishable under sections, 411, 287(7) and 363(3) of the criminal law of Lagos state 2015.
Shipping Position Dailycorrespondent who was at the court during the sitting observed that the defendants until the date of their arraignment still works with the company.
The defendants who are facing a three count charge of conspiracy, stealing and alteration of a genuine bar sales book of the company denied committing the offences.
The Magistrate, Mrs. I.O Alaska granted the defendants bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties.
She also added that the sureties who must be gainfully employed must also reside around the magisterial district.
Alaska added that the sureties must furnish the court with evidence of three years tax payment.
