A 38 year old Mgbede Ewa was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa magistrates court for impersonating the Nigerian Navy.
Mgbede is facing a three count charge bordering on impersonations and illegal possession of military wear.
The Prosecutor Kolade Tadunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on the 9th of April 2019 at White Sand area, Ijora in Apapa magisterial district.
She also said that the defendant was also in possession of two pairs of military uniform, two pairs of Navy uniform and three pairs of black boots of different sizes.
Kolade also said that the defendant gave out the uniforms and boots to unauthorised persons for illegal activities at White Sand, Ijora.
The Prosecutor also added that the defendant on the same date time and place not being a member of the armed forces was wearing a military camouflage and T-shirt.
She said that the offences are punishable under sections, 77(a)(b), 80 and 79(a)(b) of the criminal laws of Lagos state.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offences.
The magistrate, Mr. M Owumi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two registered sureties in like sum.
He added that the sureties must furnish the court with evidence of three years tax payment to Lagos state government.
The case was adjourned till 7th of May 2019.
