Sea robbers, whose menace had been limited to petty theft on small boats and ferries, have become emboldened. Last week, they invaded the Lagos lagoon and made away with two luxury boats that were anchored by their owners.
Disclosing this in Lagos, a member of the Port Facility Security Officers, (PFSO) forum, who prefers to remain anonymous, said that the most recent incident happened last week on the waterfront of the famous Lagoon restaurant.
Although, the identity of the owners of the luxury boats could not be ascertain, the Marine Police has reportedly commenced investigations.
Multiple sources within the PFSO Forum confirmed the theft of the boats as well as the Police investigation.
But, while confirming the theft, the Officer in Charge of Marine, Superintendent of Police Ben Nwosu said that the boat stolen from the waterfront of Lagoon restaurant was found around the Falomo Lagoon area of Lagos a few days after it was stolen, but he added that the engine of the boat had been removed.
