The Federal Government has extended the tenure of the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Barrister Hassan Bello in office for another four years.
In a statement issued in Lagos over the weekend by the Director of Special Duties of the Council, Ignatius Nweke and sent to Shipping Position Daily, the Bello's appointment renewal was sanctioned by the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and it is with immediate effect.
According to the statement, the letter conveying the renewal was dated 9th of June 2017 and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Mr. Sabiu Zakari.
The letter states that "The Acting President appoved the renewal of Mr. Hassan Bello's appointment for another four year tenure effective from June 20th 2017 to 19th June 2021 in accordance with relevant sections of the Nigerian Shippers Council Act, CAP 133, LFN 2004"
It would be recalled that in 2013, Hassan Bello was appointed as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the council following the expiration of tenure of Capt Adam Biu, the then Executive Secretary.
