A non-governmental organization, Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG) has applauded the federal government for the several reforms initiated to standardize the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron in Akwa Ibom State.
In a statement issued by the NGO and made available in Uyo last week, the group said it was impressed with the development strides of the Rector at the academy, Commodore Emmanuel Duja Effedua
The statement signed by the president of CSGGG, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic noted that an independent assessment by the group has revealed serious measures by the federal government to turn around the fortunes of the Maritime institution.
The group listed some of the achievements of the current leadership of the institution to include; standardization of projects, re-modelling of safety demonstration swimming pool abandoned for over 20 years, proper staff management, and sustainable corporate social responsibilities toward its host community.
“We are impressed with the development strides of the Rector, Commodore Emmanuel Duja Effedua for his sterling performance, exemplary leadership qualities, transparency and most importantly his attempt at ensuring standardization of projects both completed and ongoing.
“The re-modelling of the safety demonstration swimming pool of the academy which was abandoned for over two decades, upgrades of lecture theatres to meet international standard, genuine commitment to engendering excellence in the administration of the academy are visible under the current management of the academy.”
