A frontline maritime academy, Multimix Academy, has called on the Federal Government to establish a National Export Institute.
The Chief Executive Officer of the academy, Dr. Obiora Madu, said this last week in an interview with Shipping Position Daily in Lagos.
Speaking during the interview, he said that since Nigerian universities do not have international trade course, interested persons engage themselves through ad hoc studies to obtain the required qualifications.
He also said that the institute will ensure face-to-face or online studies for interested persons.
He reiterated that low level of education has greatly affected the productivity level of Nigerians.
“We are doing our best with the individuals who show interest, when you don’t have a national policy along that line, then it is only those are interested that can come. When your universities do not have international trade courses then people can go for adhoc trade courses”.
“I have proposed years back to the government that we need a National Export Institute. Export Promotion Council, has offices everywhere in the council, so you don’t need to reinvent the will, use those same offices, integrate face to face and online studies and all these can be achieved”, he explained.
Our population supposed to be an advantage, but suddenly it is looking as if it is a curse. Productivity in this country is very low, people are not ready, everybody is looking for something from nothing and nobody is discouraging it, people are getting away with it” he lamented.
