The founder of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF); Dr Boniface Aniebonam has splashed N3.2million worth of scholarship on 35 students of the NAGAFF academy.
Aniebonam said this during the recent maiden matriculation ceremony of the academy in Apapa, Lagos.
Addressing the new intakes, Dr Aniebonam who congratulated them for reaching this milestone also said that education is the best thing that could happen to any human being.
He added that many of new intakes were struggling to pay the N50,000 school fee per semester which according to him, inspired the scholarship initiative of paying for their school fees for two semesters.
Aniebonam also charged the management of the academy to ensure that the effort put in by the students is not in vain.
"For a long time, some people said we were being deceived and we wasted a lot of money and time but we were never redeemed, so I want make sure that these efforts put in by these students are not wasted", he said.
He promised to play his part by making available all logistical support needed to make this happens.
"When this dream is finally achieved, then the matriculants will blossom as full-fledged freight forwarders", Aniebonam said.
Also speaking, the Rector of the academy, Mr. Francis Omotosho, said the academy is hopeful that next session, the number of matriculating students will be more.
"We are having the maiden matriculation ceremony of our newly- admitted students today. And today we are matriculating about 35 students and we are believing God that by next session it will be more than this", he said.
He maintained the course offered in the academy is basically for freight forwarders, even as he added that for now the academy is offering only Diploma programmes.
"Our courses are just about freight forwarding; we are focusing on training freight forwarders. We have Diploma and Higher Diploma, we also have certificate, Masters and even PhD in freight forwarding"
"Our area of concentration is basically freight forwarding. All the students we have now are for OND, we will not advertise for other openings for now, because we are trying to put structures in place"
"As we are just taking-off now, we believe all those infrastructures will be in place. So by next session, we will be able to accommodate other students coming for other me. The space will only accommodate Diploma students. But we have buildings and structures which means we are going to move"
one of the new intakes, Mr. Geoffrey Emeka Nwosu, said he feels so excited to be in the academy.
"I am so happy to be here; I was one of the pioneer student of the institution when we did certificate programme and on the commencement of this, I have come back to do Diploma programme", he concluded.
