The People’s Republic of China is seeking more education about details of the Nigeria Customs Service’s import and export guidelines.
The request was made yesterday by the Deputy Consul General of China in Nigeria; Li Yong, when he paid a courtesy call on the Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service,; Mr Eporwei Edike; an Assistant Comptroller General(ACG)
Mr Li Yong who represented the Consulate General, said the educative forum will enable Chinese business men to have more knowledge of Nigeria Customs import and export laws and regulations.
The training, he said will improve the knowledge of the Chinese on Customs Import and Export Laws and Regulations and so reduced friction between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Chinese traders in Nigeria.
The Ambassador acknowledged that the visit to the Customs ACG was aimed at enhancing the already existing bilateral trade investment between Nigeria and the Republic of China. He then stressed the fact that the role of Nigeria Customs cannot be over stated as the Country’s economy is experiencing deep adjustment and low growth.
Responding, the Zonal Coordinator thanked the Deputy Consulate General for the visit, even as he expressed appreciation for requesting for an interactive session to educate Chinese business community about Customs import and export laws and regulations.
According to him, this will go a long way in trade facilitation and revenue collection which is one of the customs mandate.
On the issue of interactive forum, the Zonal Coordinator promised to forward the Deputy Consulate General’srequest to the Comptroller General of Customs for approval.
