Chief Executive Officer, Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ); Mr Sheriff Mulade has lauded the Federal Government for the successful take off of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of the State.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Warri recently, the House of Assembly hopeful, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the smooth take off of the University.
Mulade commended the efforts of the Delta state government for the actualization of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, saying, “I want to sincerely express my appreciation to President Mohammadu Buhari and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state for their tireless efforts toward the kick-off of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko.
“I want to equally commend other stakeholders, especially members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists for supporting the take off of the University. It was not easy getting the University off the ground”, he added.
Mulade assured the Federal and State governments of conducive learning environment and adequate security of staff and students of the University now that normal academic activities have kicked off.
He however, appealed for special focus on the development of the Niger Delta region, particularly the riverine oil and gas host communities to give them sense of belonging.
