LASU Emerges Winner Of TAAM Blueprint Competition

 Lagos State University (LASU) has emerged winner of this year’s Taiwo Afolabi Annual Maritime (TAAM) Blueprint Competition, after narrowing defeating host school; the University of Lagos (UNILAG) by two points to emerge as winner.

The competition, sponsored by SIFAX Group, is one of the activities of the Taiwo Afolabi Annual Maritime Conference, which is in its fourth edition and held in partnership with the Maritime Forum of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos.

At the end of the keenly-contested competition, which used a debate format where maritime issues were debated,  LASU represented by Tiamiyu Hezekiah and Enifemi Ibrahim Oluwadamilola emerged the overall winner with just two point different , while University of Lagos represented by Alao Joshua and Otitola Olajimi came second

Various maritime topics were debated by the participants. Some of the topics were: “Achieving the blue Economy dream in the maritime sector, harnessing the potential in the blue economy, among others.

The winner was given a mouth-watering prize of N200, 000 including, an extra cash of N50,000 given to the winner by the Executive Director of  Ocean Deep services limited ; Mrs Rollens Macfoy. Also 10 slots were given to the two schools to attend the next Lagos International Maritime Week. Organized by Mrs. Oritsematosan Edodo-Emore, Principal, Zoe Maritime Resources Limited.

Speaking on the competition, the Principal, Zoe Maritime Resources Oritsematosan Edodo-Emore called for mole female participants in the edition of the programme as she observed that no female was among the two schools representatives.

SIFAX Group also said the need to deepen the knowledge base of the law students and to stimulate their interest in the country’s maritime industry were responsible for the company’s sponsorship of the competition.
