Even as it has successfully rolled over into the new Nigeria Customs Integration System (NICIS) 2, Customs Area Controller in charge of Tin Can Island Port command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Musa Baba Abdullahi has said that the command is ready to offer training to maritime journalists on the new innovations and operations.
Compt Musa stated this last week while addressing some maritime journalists who paid him a courtesy call.
He gave assurances that the command is ready to work and partner with the media to achieve its set goals and develop the maritime industry.
He however said this would be possible only in a cordial and atmosphere where both parties will benefit.
He further noted that since he resumed duties as the CAC of Tin Can Island Command, he has been meeting with stakeholders to ensure that they are educated on the happenings and technicalities of the NICIS 2.
He said the importers and their agents are undergoing training at the command.
''There is nothing wrong in Tin Can Customs organising for interactions that are educative in form of training stakeholders which will include journalists.
If there are some of your new members who did not partake in the first training, they can come and be part of it"
''These are some of the things we do. We have Public Relations (PR) unit and there is nothing wrong in creating such a platform that will put up such a training.''
The CAC agreed that training the media personnel will assist them carry out their job better and the industry will benefit.
He said "Lagos' is the biggest zone in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), so there is nothing wrong in fixing a platform that will be educative and build capacity among the stakeholders especially the media.''
