Shipping Position Daily recalls that the Institute of Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (IFFN) recently changed its nomenclature to Nigerian Institute of Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers (NIFFCB).
The certificates previously issued to members had the name and logo of the Institute of Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (IFFN) but management of the NIFFCB is calling on members to come forth to obtain the new certificate.
Administrative Officer of NIFFCB; Mr. Olusegun Kolawole in a chat with our correspondent disclosed that in view of the development, members are requested to return both the old IFFN and NIFF certificates for the new NIFFCB certificate.
Mr Kolawole explained that the change of name from IFFN to NIFFCB came as a result of the approval by the governing council of Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) that the institute should be its training arm.
He stated that members should pay a token of N5000 to cover the cost of the certificate at Diamond Bank Plc branches nationwide with account number 0062507731 with account name; Nigerian Institute of Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers.
He also said that members can contact the institute’s secretariat at the Nigerian Shippers Council in Apapa, Lagos for further clarification.
"The change of name by the governing council of the institute as endorsed by CRFFN is to reflect the directors' intent to capture broad and salient objective of the institute", he explained.
Giving an insight into the categories of members being expected, Kolawole disclosed that membership cuts across fellow, members, associate members, student members, and corporate organisations.
According to him, the mission of the CRFFN accredited institution is to create a network of up to date maritime data tailored towards equipping practitioners with relevant information for greater efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.
