Nigeria’s Naval Chief, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas has called for the enhancement of Maritime Law Enforcement agents in country.
He said capacity enhancement is most expedient if Nigeria were to hold her own as a force to be reckoned with in the West African sub region.
Vice Admiral Ibas gave the advice during an interview with journalists in Abuja.
He sought for collaboration of stakeholders in the maritime industry so as to make the seas safe for trade and prosperity in the region.
While acknowledging the threats posed by pirates and vandals in the waterways, he assured that the Nigerian Navy is ready for any challenges whatsoever.
Recall that recently , the Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe -Africa, Admiral Michelle Howard visited Nigeria.
Her visit was to discuss with the Nigerian leaders the significance of their role in the fight against illicit maritime activities throughout the region.
While acknowledging the threats posed by pirates and vandals in the waterways, the Nigerian naval chief assured that the Nigerian Navy is ready for any challenges whatsoever.
