Product Tanker Attacked Off Nigeria
A Greek-owned product tanker; Nefeli II has been attacked about 80 nautical miles southwest of Brass, in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria.
The ship was attacked around 0600 UTC Nov 4 some 120 nm south of Bonny Nigeria, while en route from Lagos to Douala in Cameroon.
The crew included Russians, Georgians and Ukrainians.
The locally-trading vessel and its crew are reported safe, they managed to hide in citadel when pirates boarded tanker.
The pirates looted the ship, and fled.
Global piracy monitoring sources said, “the ship stopped at roughly the same time and position attack occurred, and as of 0700 UTC was still adrift, AIS seems to be working. Highly likely she was boarded. Awaiting ship’s ID confirmation and more details”, the statement indicated further”.
Dutch freighter lost containers in North sea UPDATE at least 33 containers lost
At least 33 containers were lost, UK CG responding, with deployment of tug, plane and coastal navigational providers. FRANCISCA meanwhile, is cruising in legs back and forth, alongside northernmost Scotland coast. As of 0230 UTC Nov 2, she was still cruising, with tug nearby, probably she’s still having problems with containers on board, remaining in danger of falling overboard.

Understood general cargo ship FRANCISCA lost at least 10 containers at around midday Oct 31 in North sea west of Duncansby Head, northeast tip of Scotland, while en route from Iceland to Rotterdam. The ship turned back, passed Pentland Firth and as of 1430 UTC was sailing in northwest direction, probably sheltering/waiting out stormy weather.

Aframax Crude Oil Tanker Explosion, 5 Workers Injured, Turkey
Aframax crude oil tanker SRI ASIH reportedly suffered an explosion in cargo tank on Nov 3, while undergoing repairs at Yalova ship repair yard, Turkey, Marmara sea. 5 workers are said to be injured, hospitalized. Explosion, most probably, was caused by fire works in a tank, which still contained explosive fumes from oil residues. Tanker is in Yalova since early October.

Container Ship Sank Off Portugal Coast, Crew Rescued
The ship is probably, still afloat. There was water ingress, engine room is reportedly, flooded.The ship issued distress signal at around 0030 UTC, reporting flooding, danger of capsizing, sinking.
Container ship SOUTHWESTER reportedly sank some 30 nm off Figueira da Foz, Portugal, at around 0400 UTC Nov 5, while en route from Bretagne France to Seville Spain, all 14 crew were rescued by nearby cargo ship. Ship’s sinking not yet confirmed, no other details available at the moment.
Former Soviet Cruise Ship Beached By Storm, Gulf Of Mexico
Decommissioned and intended for dismantling passenger ship ENCHANTED CAPRI (ex- Soviet cruise ship Azerbaijan) in the afternoon Nov 2 dragged anchor and drifted aground on a beach in Alvarado municipality waters, Veracruz State, Mexico, Gulf of Mexico. She was relocated to Mexico waters and exploited as an offshore oil industry flotel, since around 2009, until last month, when she was decommissioned, to be dismantled at Tampico. Understood she was under tow from lay-up at Coatzacoalcos and was anchored to wait out weather on Oct 26, but dragged anchor and grounded, when the storm was passing the area. Skeleton crew of four was rescued. The ship is to be refloated. AIS was on until Oct 30.
