The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Enugu Zone, says it has not recorded any case of adulteration of petroleum products.
Mr Peter Ijeh, the Controller in-charge of the zone, comprising Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu, spoke in in Awka last Thursday.
Ijeh said that the zone has been carrying out unscheduled random sampling of products since the reports of adulteration last year.
He said that all the samples so far tested showed that they were not faked.
The controller, however, warned users of petrol, kerosene and diesel to be wary of their quality to guard against explosion.
“For now there is no established case of fake petroleum products, we have been getting and taking samples but they did not show any sign of being counterfeited,” he said.
The controller said the surge in the price of kerosene was due to scarcity and not hoarding.
He said every lifting with destination to Anambra, Ebonyi or Enugu State was manifested, adding that they were monitored against diversion.
Ijeh said that not up to 10 trucks have been delivered to the zone in the past one month.
A litre of Kerosene now sold for between N500 and N550 per litre by surface tank operators, while most filling stations in Awka lacked the product in Awka.
