The Customs Area Controller (CAC) in charge of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Seme Area Command, Comptroller Kayode Kolade,, has announced a significant increase in revenue collection for the 2024 fiscal year, reaching N7,166,576,397.49. This marks a 21.7% increase from the N5,885,697,334.62 collected in the corresponding period of 2023.
The Area Controller made the announcement during the decoration ceremony of newly promoted officers on Monday, 26 January 2024.
Comptroller Kolade attributed this success to building on the achievements of his predecessors. “Upon my resumption of duty on 3 September 2024, I pledged to consolidate on the achievement of my predecessors and we have kept such faith.”
The Command also facilitated the export of 8,487 trucks valued at N77,867,442,730.00 and recorded 921 interceptions with a Duty Paid Value of N1,895,175,942.00 in 2024. The interceptions included seizures of PMS, foreign rice, means of conveyance, and hard drugs, among others.
He expressed pride in the Command’s achievement: “Additionally, let me mention that the command won the best ‘Land Border Command in Trade Facilitation Award’ during the CGC Excellent Award Night at Abuja in November 29, 2024.”
The Controller also celebrated the promotion of newly decorated officers, reminding them that leadership is not just about titles, but about responsibility.
Chief Superintendent of Customs, CSC Abdullahi Hussaini, one of the newly promoted officers, assured that he would continue to strive for excellence, saying, “Our expectation is to do more and we are ready to achieve much more results.”
