The coming elections into the national executive council of a faction of the National Council of Managing Directors Licensed Customs Agents,(NCMDLCA) appears to have further deepened the acrimony between leaders of the association.
At the centre of the deepening face-off is the group’s Chairman of Board of Trustee; Chief Austin Kelly and factional president; Chief Festus Ejiofor.
While Chief Kelly is progressing with arrangements for the elections, followers of Chief Ejiofor are condemning the electioneering process, saying that it is illegal and baseless.
The Ejiofor-led group says that the NCMDLCA has no Board of Trustees as being claimed by Chief Austine Kelly. They also argued that elections cannot be conducted without the consent of the association’s president, secretary general and chapter chairmen.
Leading the pack of Ejiofor loyalists, Public Relations Officer; Mr. Hyginus Nnukwe said that nobody in the council is afraid of the proposed election.
Nnukwe described the move by some council members to conduct elections as illegal, saying that nobody was elected as board chairman in the council.
The council’s image maker further stated that members of the council did not endorse the electioneering process has being announcement by its board chairman.
He also noted that none of the chapter chairmen are aware of the election.
“If they say they are organising elections into NCMDLCA who appointed the electoral chairman, because the sitting president must have to approve the appointment of such person”
“Have you seen anywhere in the world where BoT chairman appoints electoral committee without the consent of a sitting president”
“Why we are not even concerned in earnest is because whatever they are doing is illegal, because all the chapter chairmen are not with them and the big question is: who and who is with them or are they organising the elections out of frustration or what”, he fumed.
He added that there is no reality in whatever election the group is planning, pointing out that “they are only doing it to frustrate and distract the president of NCMDLCA”
Others, who spoke under condition of anonymity also frowned at the move, saying nobody can conduct elections except the court case involving Ejiofor and factional president; Mr Lucky Amiwero is concluded.
