The African Federation of Freight Forwarders (AFFF) has reiterated its commitment in ensuring that Association of Registered Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (AREFFN) is consulted whenever the need arises as part of effort to create an enabling environment for Nigerian practitioners to key into the continental freight forwarding business.
President of the continental freight forwarding group, Chief Lexzy Nwangwu gave the assurance during a chat with Shipping Position Daily in Lagos, even as he maintained that AREFFN will play a vital role as the pioneer president.
Nwangwu who also doubles as Vice Chairman Board of Trustees (BOT) of AREFFN, noted that his constituency plays a key role in Nigeria despite the intercontinental status.
The AFFF President said that associations like the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA) National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) and the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) are key players in the profession and in due cause they will also play a pivotal role at the continental level in freight forwarding practice.
He also said that other freight forwarding associations and customs brokers group will be carried along but stated that AREFFN will be instrumental in the area of consultation and networking"
"My constituency is Nigeria and in Nigeria I am the vice chairman Board of Trustee of AREFFN and there is no way I will not fall back to where I belong"
"For me to succeed, I will consult and work with AREFFN in the Nigeria because it is my primary constitution as a Nigerian"
According to him, a regional office will soon be established in West Africa and Nigeria might be the base. He noted that there is no where to start from except members of AREFFN.
"We are yet to establish a regional office because it is very important "
"We will establish a Nigeria base office and after that we expect Nigerians to key in and understand what we intend to achieve."
"The regional office must come first, we will set up member nation offices then we will start to talk about members.", Nwangwu added.
