The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Western Zone, in collaboration with the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), is set to host its first-ever Annual Table Tennis Tournament, a landmark event in the association’s history.
This tournament is scheduled to hold on December 6th and 7th, 2024, at the ‘Not Bad Sports Arena’, located in Egbeda, Lagos, directly opposite Faith Academy in the Gowon Estate area.
The highly anticipated event offers a substantial N10 million grand prize, underscoring ANLCA’s commitment to fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship, and engagement within and across industry sectors.
In a press statement jointly issued on Thursday by the Vice President of ANLCA, Prince Segun Oduntan, and the Western Zone Chairman, Femi Anifowoshe, the organizers highlighted that the tournament seeks to promote unity among stakeholders in the maritime, aviation, and border management sectors. The competition aims to serve as a unique platform for government agencies, private industry players, and sports enthusiasts to network and unwind as the year draws to a close.
“This unique event will bring together government agencies, industry stakeholders, and sports enthusiasts alike, providing a platform for networking and friendly competition to close out the year on a high note,” the statement noted.
“Participants in this inaugural tournament will include representatives from the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Licensed Customs Agents, Terminal Operators, Shipping Companies, Bonded Terminal Operators, and more key organizations within the sector.
Each organization is invited to send a team of four players, ensuring broad representation in what promises to be a memorable and exciting event.”
At the forefront of the tournament ‘s organization are key figures within ANLCA: Chief Host Prince Segun Oduntan and Co-Host Mr. Femi Anifowoshe. They announced that the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, will grace the event as the Special Guest of Honour, adding an official stamp of recognition and prestige to the tournament. Other high-ranking dignitaries expected to attend include various customs Area Controllers and the esteemed members of ANLCA’s Board of Trustees (BOT), underscoring the tournament’s significance within the customs and logistics sector.
