Immediate past national president of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Chief Ernest Elochukwu has bemoaned the non-performance of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), saying that the legal obstacle have slowed the council down.
According to him, as much as the idea behind the Council is quite good and its take-off quite okay, the legal action that was instituted by some freight forwarders on account of elections into the Council have adversely affected its growth and efficiency.
He however advised freight forwarders not to expect too much from the council saying that it is still at infant stage, but expressed optimism that all the legal entanglements would soon be resolved.
“Again, one of the major reason why the council has not fully taken off is the issue of legal action that was taken by some persons against the composition of the council and you know this is a very fundamental issue that needs to be sorted out”, he acknowledged”
“I can assure you that this is affecting most of the other activities of the council; the council want to exercise caution in most of the things that it is doing, let it not look like going against the substance of any issue being contested in the courts”, he added in an exclusive interview with Shipping Position Weekly.
