ANLCA Elections: Oodua Chieftain Rallies Support For Members

A chieftain of Oodua Maritime Forum, Mr Michael Adekoya, on Thursday advised his members to elect officials capable of delivering the forum’s agenda in the forthcoming ANLCA elections.
Adekoya, also the NAGAFF Chapter Chairman, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) in Lagos, said that the mission and vision of the group needed to be upheld and should not be ignored.
The NAGAFF chairman told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that as a social-economic and cultural group, the forum could not be apolitical in matters that concerned the welfare members.
He said that it would not be in the interest of the forum for its members to continue to be marginalised in national bodies.
The chieftain said that the objectives of the forum, when it was formed in 1997, included catering for the welfare of sons and daughters of Oodua in the maritime sector.
“The forum is not for freight forwarders alone, rather it is an all-encompassing one for workers in the maritime sector of Oodua extraction, he said.
According to him it is the solidarity of the members that produced him as the NAGAFF chairman and want members to extend the same good will to aspirants in ANLCA elections.
He advised members to always seek opinions of elders of the forum before taking actions on issues, especially on elections into national bodies.
He said that if members occupied prime positions in national bodies, it would be easier to partner for the development and welfare of its members nationwide.
He commended the members of the forum for their efforts during the last ANLCA national elections in Warri.
He said that a repeat of the bloc votes that enabled the forum to achieve the feat it recorded in the Warri elections in the 2017 was needed.
