ANLCA Issues N2million As Insurance to Families Of Deceased Members

In fulfillment of the promise it made when it was inaugurated three years ago, the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) yesterday presented a N2million cheque to each of the widows of two of its late members.
At a special prayer session which took place at the ANLCA national secretariat in Lagos yesterday, the money was given to the families of Late Mr Prince Udegbe; former secretary of ANLCA, Tin Can chapter and received by his wife Mrs Dora Udegbe and the family of Mr Ambrose Eke, late public relations officer of airport chapter of the association.

While presenting the cheques, ANLCA National President, Prince Olayiwola Shittu said that the insurance scheme was put in place to cushion the effect of the departure of any of its members on their families.
While extolling the virtues of the departed members, Shittu said that the Tin Can secretary, Udegbe who died in 2011, worked tirelessly and even gave out his personal property to assist the association.
"Udegbe is an example of what an association official should be, that is why I have always told people to live for the association and not to live on the association, most of the problems we have in ANLCA today is because people live on the association", he stated.
He also commended the late Airport chapter PRO, Mr. Eke for his tenacity, even as he described him as a God-fearing man.
"If this association had been predicated on welfare from the beginning, by now we should be picking up bills of medical expenses of our members, but the godfathers within the association will not allow it to happen" Shittu lamented.
He however regretted that no amount will be enough to replace the soul of the departed ones.
While appreciating the association for the gesture, Mrs. Princess Udegbe promised to carry on the legacies of his husband and to ensure that his company; AZ Maritime Merchant keeps thriving.
"I really appreciate what ANLCA has done for me and my family, it has shown that I as the wife of Late Prince Udegbe will continue to let his name move on, as long as ANLCA lives, the company will live", she said.
On her part, Mrs Lucy Eke also appreciated the association for honouring her and the children of Late Ambrose Eke.
Prince Olayiwola Shittu later decorated the women as honorary members of the association, even as he urged them to visit the respective chapter chairmen of ANLCA and work with them in running the affairs of their husband's companies.
