The leadership of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has commenced plans for a comprehensive life insurance policy for its members, in what members see as a fulfillment of one of the electoral promises of the national president, Prince Olayiwola Shittu.
Although details of the insurance package were sill being kept under wraps, our correspondent confirmed last week that the exercise will commence with the almost 131 elected and appointed officials of the association, including the secretariat staff, while other members of the association are expected to follow suit.
Sources close to the national president told our correspondent that already preliminary meetings have taken place between the insurance companies/brokers and the national leadership of the association.
It was gathered that the policy include permanent disability which attracts N1million at a premium of N8000 per year and that the association will be the main umbrella through which all its members will be recognized by the insurance brokers and through which claims are made and collected.
To ensure a tidy arrangement, a two-member committee has been constituted to work out the modalities of the life insurance package which is expected to be presented for further adoption at the association’s next National Executive Committee meeting.
The committee is made up of the national legal adviser of ANLCA, Barrister Emmanuel Osonwa and the Senior Special Adviser to the National President on Insurance matters and members’ welfare, Mr Chukwudi Ike.
