The National President Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu is set to deliver a paper on customs brokerage in far away Asia.
Shittu and some other top echelon of the biggest freight forwarding associations in Nigeria is expected in South Korea for a congress , which will run from 11th to 19th, May 2014.
The president, dropped the hint to some members of Maritime Correspondents Organisation of Nigeria (MARCON), who paid a courtesy visit to the ANLCA secretariats in Lagos, last week.
Shittu disclosed that " by next weekend we going to South Korea to attend the World Congress of the Customs brokers and I can tell you that for the first time in the history of International Federation of Customs Brokers (IFCB) which Nigeria was admitted in 2012, which we were made directors of the board will make its own impact through the lecture"
"In fact the one we are going next week in Korea, I will be delivering a paper on customs administrations on the impact of Nigeria economy and I believe is a big one for the association and the country, because Nigeria is not the only black country there,"he stated.
He also disclosed that the association has also been given the right by the international customs brokerage body to organise training programme for West and Centre Africa regions on customs brokers.
He revealed that the training centre will also have it headquarters in Nigeria pointing out that there is the need for the federal government to support such a huge project on human capacity building.
According to him, support from customs will be difficult because past administration of the service led to factions in freight forwarding associations.
Shittu however noted that members of the association have undergone series of training on customs formalities both local and internationally; which in turn has transformed members on the job.
